I just got a job canvassing for Equality California. It’s a good thing I really care about the cause and that the people I work with are cool, because it’s already exhausting. oh yeah, and the making money part is kind of essential too.

here are some of my favorite reactions from people in beverly hills:

me: “Hi, would you like to help legalize gay marriage?”
- fabulous old man: “a gay marriage? I need one of those. can you find me a husband? I don’t have any money to give you, but I have some bread. SMELL IT.”
- another old man got fairly close to my face, stared at me blankly for a good 5 seconds, and said, “Well you’re pretty, aren’t ya!” and then just walked away. um…thanks?
- Jordana Brewster chose to ignore me, like most people did. WHATEVER YOU’RE NOT THAT FAMOUS ANYWAY
the most frustrating part about canvassing there was that people clearly had the money to donate. you can’t just walk out of Prada, tell me you support the cause, but refuse to give a penny. I’m sorry, you just can’t.
